Chau Double-Dips Daniels on Viking Tour

Double-Dipping in Style on Viking Tour
Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour / Winchester, VA

by InsidePOOL Staff

Manuel Chau and Ryan Jones earned titles at the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour’s March 28-29 stop in the open and amateur divisions, respectively. Blue Fox Billiards in Winchester, VA, played host to the tour and hosted 88 entries, as players battled for their shot at taking home a share of the prize monies up for grabs.

The weekend turned out to be full of upsets as local favorites Matt Clatterbuck finished seventeenth and Brandon Shuff finished fifth in the tournament. The event’s winner, Chau, worked his way back from the one-loss side to the finals to face Justin Daniels, who had made his way undefeated into the finals. This did not deter Chau, who double-dipped Daniels to win the open division, taking 9-3 and 9-2 victories.

The amateur event kicked off Sunday, and double-dipping was also the flavor in this division, as Ryan Jones and Shawn Toni battled it out for first. Toni had made his way through the top half of the brackets and looked to be going strong until he faced Jones in finals. Jones had started his run in the bottom of the brackets and was sent to the left side of the chart by Toni in the match for the hot seat. Jones came back with a vengeance to the finals, where he defeated Toni in both sets 6-3, 6-2 to take the win.
