Fisher Snaps Off Randolph's Billiards

Randolph’s Billiards
Hickory, NC

This was the Carolina Ladies J. Pechauer Tour largest event to date. There were a total of 18 players, including #1 ranked WPBA Kelly “Kwikfire” Fisher and WPBA pros Janet Atwell and Val Finnie. The event lasted 2 days with a race to 9 on the winners’ side and a race to 7 on the one-loss side.

As expected, Kelly Fisher dominated the winners’ bracket, defeating both Val Finnie and Janet Atwell. As Kelly Fisher worked her way through the winners’ side, Buffy Jolie and Val Finnie were working on the one-loss bracket. They paired against each other with Finnie defeating Jolie in a close match, 7-6. On the upper portion of the one-loss bracket, top amateur and top player of the tour, Katie Cowan was working her way through. Val defeated Katie, 7-5 but eventually played Janet Atwell where she was handed her second loss.

Kelly Fisher won the event with a 9-5 victory over Janet Atwell in a hard fought match that saw both players playing well.

Janet Atwell came in first at the Carolina Ladies J. Pechauer Tour’s February 21 stop, triumphing over the other nine players in the field. The event boasted a $750-added purse and was hosted by Grady’s in Lexington, SC.

Though the turnout was small, in that field were WPBA pro Belinda Calhoun and top amateurs Buffy Jolie and Karen Webb. Atwell worked her way through the winners’ bracket to face Calhoun, whom she defeated 9-7 in a nail-biting match.

Jolie and Calhoun went hill-hill to see who would face Atwell in the finals, with the seasoned pro prevailing 7-6. Instead of opting to play out the double-elimination finals, Calhoun and Atwell agreed to split the pot after Calhoun won the first set 7-6.
